Vintage 1950 Picasso “Still Life with Antique Head” Lithograph Art Print
GOLDEN RULE GALLERY VINTAGEVintage 1950 hand tipped in lithograph of Picasso’s Still Life with Antique Head (1925).
Commentary on the work circa 1950:
A marvellous demonstration of light effects conceived wholly in the imagination, and obeying an inner logic. Probably the artist had in mind Greek vases and the drawings on a black ground figuring on lecythi. But whereas Greek art aimed only at decoration, Picasso concentrates on form and composition, and by a briltantly conceived lay-out of planes coloured solely in browns and whites, he achieves a luminosity rarely, if ever, equalled in the history of art.
10.5” x 7.75” lithograph hand tipped in on thick 12.75” x 9.75" paper.
